Letters: Strange things happen repeatedly

I noted many strange things happening over and over again in our beloved country recently.
I'll start with the Bank Century case. After the House of Representatives made the decision that there were problems with bailout, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said his administration could accept the House's decision. But strangely, he also stressed the bailout was the right decision.

Second, when then chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Antasari Azhar asked police to investigate individuals allegedly terrorizing his wife, the team assigned to investigate the case was not under then Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji. Later, Antasari was found guilty of murdering the people that had allegedly terrorized his family.
Third, KPK deputy leaders - Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, who were accused of receiving bribes by the police - were arrested despite a lack of evidence. The two were released later due to the public pressures.
Another strange thing was that President SBY allowed Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati to take up a position as a managing director of the World Bank, despite repeatedly lauding Mulyani as one of the best ministers in his cabinet.
The question is what is more important, the national interests or the World Bank's interests? I believe we would find many more strange goings on if we followed the day-to-day activities of our elites. I have to say such strange things happen due to weak leadership at the national level, including the leadership of our President.
We may just blame them for what has happened. But we may also blame ourselves for electing them. It seems that we need to find stronger leadership in the future.
